Jaguar develops automatic doors for disabled drivers
Accessibility is a very important aspect to the time to break barriers for those who suffer a disability, of any kind. The car is one of the objects that we use the most on a daily basis, and certain people with this type of problem can see more obstacles than facilities when it comes to riding in one.
Jaguar Land Rover has developed a system that will automatically open the doors so that drivers with certain difficulties can have better access to their car. The system, which will use a set of sensors, will take advantage of gestural control and keyless access.
Even though the solutions of Accessibility is a benefit for all those people who need them on a daily basis and it is always to stress that manufacturers are betting on this type of systems to make life easier for certain people, remember that Tesla already has automatic opening via smartphone.
"Opening and closing a car door may seem like such an insignificant task for many people, but sometimes, it's the small, everyday obstacles that people take for granted that are the most frustrating to overcome for those with disabilities." affirmed Mark Ormrod.
Jaguar Land Rover has developed the system in six months , and have worked together with Olympic medalist Mark Ormrod. The operation is as follows, the sensors of the driver's door detect cars or other obstacles so as not to damage the body. Like Tesla, Jaguar Land Rover will show the status of each door, as well as the ability to open or close them from the screen. In addition, the software can also be used to program the closing and automatic locking of the doors when the driver moves away from the vehicle. You may be interested
